RR vs CSK 2019

RR vs CSK 2019: The Sportsrush presents before you three intriguing player battles ahead of the 25th match of IPL 2019.

When these two teams last met in Chennai this year, we had a thriller on our hands and CSK just managed to eke out a win by 8 runs. RR, who are down in the dumps, would look to avenge their defeat and make a strong comeback.

They need to find their sweet spot soon failing which they might be looking at an early exit. They just have 2 points and need a turnaround desperately.

CSK will look to extend their lead at the top of the table and get 2 more points to start off their away leg on a positive note. It will be interesting to see how they adapt to alien conditions and whether they have the firepower to play as well on pacier pitches will be interesting to watch.

Let us have a look at some of the player battles that may make the match exciting:

Jos Buttler vs Deepak Chahar

Chahar has been in some brilliant form in this year’s IPL and has used his swing and slower deliveries to fool many batsmen. His bowling style will be suitable for a pitch like the one at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

However, the swashbuckling Jos Buttler will look to take him to the cleaners early in his innings during the powerplay overs. That is how he plays his best cricket. It will be interesting to see if Chahar can use Buttler’s attacking nature to force him to commit a mistake.

Shreyas Gopal vs Faf du Plessis

The middle order has been stable and has contributed whenever called upon to do so. Ambati Rayudu has had a forgettable season so far but would like to change that with one good innings. MS Dhoni is expected to back him irrespective of form.

MS Dhoni has had a good season thus far and would look to make the most of his impeccable form down the order. Kedar Jadhav has played a couple of good innings and a few important cameos. He will maintain his spot in the team. In the absence of bravo, Ravindra Jadeja will have to use his willow to hit a few big ones at the end.

Jofra Archer vs Mahendra Singh Dhoni

Archer has been magnificent with the ball for RR in this tournament. His death bowling has been especially impactful and he would look to bowl similar lengths and variations against the CSK skipper, MS Dhoni.

Dhoni, arguable the best finisher in the world, would surely have strategies to counter the Jofra threat and send him packing into the stands. However, it will be interesting to see how the death overs pan out as these 2 players try to overcome the challenge.
