Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has changed this part of the game to move Manchester United to the first gear says Ryan Giggs.

Results were not going towards United’s way and the amount of defensive strategy frustrated the board. On the other hand, fans were not happy with the attacking intention which Manchester United showed which forced Ed Woodward to relieve Jose Mourinho from managerial duties.

In all due event, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as the new gaffer of the Red Devils. Since he has come in during mid-December, the Norwegian has done an excellent job by winning all 7 games, thus maintaining the 100% win record.

There is no doubt about the quality available in the stake at Manchester United, but Mourinho’s tactics just did not suit the players he recruited. There is no use in being stubborn with the tactics. Hence, Solskjaer has done a simple thing by installing confidence and play the way the players wanted to get the best out of them.

Manchester United looked clueless in a 1-0 loss against Juventus at Old Trafford in the Champions League group stages. The game was separated by a Paulo Dybala goal in the first half.

When Ryan Giggs and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer were watching the game against Italian Giants from the stands, the Norwegian kept on telling that full-backs Ashley Young and Luke Shaw did not get further up the pitch to contribute more to the attacking part of the game.

It is something Ryan Giggs has noticed since Solskjaer has taken over Manchester United and the habit of full-back staying with the defenders has changed, plying to more attacking play by providing more width to the forwards.

“Well, reminding the players how good they are,” the Wales boss told Premier League Productions. It’s little tweaks. It’s like you see with golfers. Just a little tweak to the game that someone else on the outside might have seen. Ole’s been to a few games before he took over.

“I was at a game next to him, and he was pointing out to me, ‘Look at the full-backs, they’re not high enough’. Things that we were used to, things that you associate with Man United teams.

“‘OK you score two, we’ll score three’ and I think he’s brought, he’s instilled that back into them that we need to score goals, we need to attack and if we’re all higher up the pitch then it just poses the opposition that question. All of a sudden teams are going from, ‘Right it’s Man United, we’ve got a chance today’ to actually, ‘Oh yeah, we’ll be defending, we’ll be deeper’.

“With the front players that United have got, not only the starting players but the ones coming off the bench, you’ve seen Sanchez, you’ve seen Lukaku now having an impact. It rivals any team within the Premier League the firepower that United have got.” said Giggs.

With confidence and pride back among the supporters, the Red Devils will be looking to carry the same form against Brighton and Hove Albion who travel to Old Trafford on Saturday.
