Samuel Umtiti injury news: Samuel Umtiti has been out of action since September, but there’s a positive news on his recovery.
Barcelona are cruising in the league at the moment. The Catalan giants hammered Real Madrid 5-1 at Camp Nou last weekend, and registered convincing victories against Inter Milan and Sevilla.
Ernesto Valverde’s side had a shaky start to the season, but Barcelona has now returned to winning ways. The victories are also significant as Valverde lost Lionel Messi to an arm injury against Sevilla two weeks ago, as well as star defender Samuel Umtiti in September.
The French defender was initially reported to be out of the action for the rest of the year.
However, AS now reports that Umtiti is recovering well and he could make an early return to football.

It is being reported that Samuel Umtiti is making a good recovery and he could return for Barcelona’s clash against Atletico Madrid on November 24.
Recently, Barcelona posted a video of Samuel Umtiti sprinting during a training session, and Spanish media outlet AS reports that he’s making a good recovery.

He will run on the Les Aigües road and then finish at the end of the week at La Mola, a more demanding route. However, the club has not yet ruled out a possibility of a surgery for the central defender. The trip to Atletico Madrid comes after the international break in November and could be key to the La Liga title race.
Diego Simeone’s side is currently 4th in La Liga with only 2 points behind Barcelona, who are at the top of the table.

Clement Lenglet and Gerard Pique are the current centre-backs for Barcelona, as Thomas Vermaelen also suffered an injury during the international break in October. While Pique has struggled this season, Lenglet seems to have adapted well with the life at Barca.

What next?
Barcelona face Cultural Leonesa in the round-of-32 of the Copa Del Rey on Wednesday, and will return to La Liga for their 11th game of the season against Rayo Vallecano, who are 19th in the table.
Chumi, Cuenca and Miranda appear to be the Barcelona B players who have the best chances of starting for the first team in tomorrow’s Copa game against Cultural Leonesa. [l’esportiu]
