Sarita Devi Defeats Hungarian Zsofia Bedo on Professional Debut

Popular Indian Female Boxer Laishram Sarita Devi started her professional career on Sunday with a win. She defeated Zsofia Bedo of Hungary at the Khuman Lampak Stadium in the IBC Fight Night. She won the fight by ‘Unanimous Verdict’.

Sarita hugged her son after the bout and said, “The Asian Games incident was painful. I had to erase those memories. That was one of the big factor I decided to turn pro. For a mother to stay away and not to feed her children is the biggest sacrifice. I made the sacrifice for this day.”

Earlier, Bedo had vowed to reduce Sarita to tears but it was the Indian who emerged victorious in front of the roaring fans in her hometown. Zsofia and Sarita were engaged in verbal spats since the bout was announced. After Sunday, he Indian had the final laugh.

Zsofia was several times forced to the corner as the debutant threw hooks and punches all over her. Sarita floored her opponent in the second round and had established a comfortable winning edge by the 3rd round.
