Scholes on Pogba: Paul Scholes talks about the Manchester United midfielder in a detailed interview with ESPN.

Manchester United have had an underwhelming season, both in terms of summer window and football so far. The club reportedly failed to meet Mourinho’s demands in the transfer market, and United finds itself at 8th in the league after 8 matches.

The situation was further worsened after a training session video showed Mourinho and midfielder Paul Pogba arguing with each other.

However, United’s victory against Newcastle with a late winner from Alexis Sanchez has fuelled some positivity among the fans.

Former Manchester United stars Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney insisted that players need to step-up, and stated that the club needs to back Mourinho. The latest to talk about the performances of the players is another United legend, Paul Scholes.

Scholes on Pogba:

Paul Scholes spoke in length about the various issues surrounding Manchester United, and one of them was Paul Pogba. Scholes insisted that Pogba is a player of very high quality, but suffers from inconsistency.

“He does some of the best things in games, a great pass or dribble, a great touch or dribble,” Scholes said.

“Then, five minutes later, he’ll do one of the worst things like his brain has switched off, like it’s all about him because he’s just shown everyone how good he is.

“That becomes easy to play against because you know that cockiness will come.”

Scholes also stated that Pogba was a consistent performer at Juventus due to the presence of bigger stars around him, which Manchester United lacks.

“We never saw that at Juventus, but [Pogba] was a smaller fish there. Look around that team, with [Gianluigi] Buffon, [Andrea] Pirlo, [Leonardo] Bonucci, [Giorgio] Chiellini, [Claudio] Marchisio: great experienced players.

“Pogba was part of a great team but he’s come to United where he’s got nobody to control him like he had at Juventus.”
