Sergey Sirotkin blames seat belts for poor performance

Sergey Sirotkin has had a troubled time inside the Williams cockpit and not because the results are not going his way, but because he is just not comfortable inside.

A few weeks back Sirotkin had reported a problem with the seat of the car and how it wasn’t allowing him to go all out and feel comfortable throughout the course of the race.

However, Sirotkin has now informed the media that it in fact was not a seat issue but a seat belt issue.

The seat belt has been weakening inside the car and hence Sirotkin is not able to push to the limit.

“I think it’s been a long time, so no one will argue if I tell,” Sergei told Drom.ru

“The problems were the following: the seat was never perfect, but the main problems were not with it, but with seat belts. Unfortunately, after the start of the race, they too quickly weakened, and those buckles that we used did not let me pull them myself. Therefore, the fact that at some point in the race, when they were completely weakened, I did not fall out of the car, it was already good. But it was simply impossible to fly in such a state.

“That is, in fact, we had to concentrate not on aerobatics, but on maintaining at least some optimal position in the cockpit. ” he added.

Stroll hasn’t yet complained about any such issue and hence we don’t really know how to react to the these ‘complaints’ from Sirotkin.

Do you think this is the reason for his ‘no-show’ this season?
