Sheffield United vs Liverpool: 3 players who could change the game on their own | Premier League

Virgil Van Dijk

Liverpool defender Van Dijk won the UEFA Player of the year award over Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. However, he would lose the FIFA Best Player award to Lionel Messi soon after. Van Dijk may not say it out loud but surely the loss has to sting.

Van Dijk does not have to say anything though. A brilliant performance against the Blades tomorrow could serve well to remind people why he was nominated alongside Ronaldo and Messi in the first place.

The brilliant form of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane has masked Liverpool’s inability to keep clean sheets consistently this season. Every time they look good to walk away without conceding a goal, they make silly mistakes to give away at least one.

So far Liverpool have not been punished for their lapses so far. However, being their most prolific defender, Van Dijk will want to raise his hands and say let’s plug the goals!

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
