Shikhar Dhawan translated that IPL form into a Test century yesterday against Afghanistan, becoming the first Indian to get a test hundred before Lunch.

Dhawan was at his fluent best last night, stroking the ball brilliantly and scoring runs at will against the inexperienced Afghan bowling unit.

For Dhawan this was a comeback into the Indian test team after he was left out of the side for the last two tests for India in South Africa.

He thus had to create an impression before the all important England tour so as to cement his position as the opener of the Indian test team.

Also, with Rahul in the fray and Vijay too getting a hundred, the competition for those two opening slots is heating up.

Dhawan was ecstatic after the end of day’s play, coming up with a social media post about his hundred.

Jattan da Munda ey ah.. Bacheyaan tey Mardaan dey vich Farak tah Hunda ey ah. These lines are on a lighter side.. my dialogue delivery timing is very good too. Thanks to evryone for ur wishes and love. Alwys Grateful.

Harbhajan Singh came up with a witty tweet to congratulate Dhawan, comparing his playing style from last night to his playing style in the IPL, wherein he always takes the attack to the opposition.

Shikhar Dhawan replied in typical ‘Gabbar’ fashion, telling Bhajji that a hundred was long due and because he couldn’t do it in the IPL, he chose to do it during the historic test against Afghanistan.
