Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw goes to KKR & Delhi Daredevils respectively
India’s U-19 stars, Shubman Gill and Pritvi Shaw have been bought for huge sums, as the teenagers have raked in the dollars in the IPL auction earlier today.
Shaw and Gill are currently playing in the U-19 World Cup in Australia, and have already made a name for themselves in the tournament.
India’s captain, Shaw started off the tournament with a superb 94 against Australia, which he followed up with a well paced 57 against Papua New Guinea in the next match.
Shaw’s batting technique and stroke play brings back memories of the great Sachin Tendulkar, as the 18-year old Mumbai batsman idolizes the great man.
Gill is another star in the making, as the teenager from Punjab scored freely in a couple of domestic matches. The hard hitting right-hander scored 147 against England last year and has continued his form in the ongoing U-19 World Cup, as he scored a couple of crucial half centuries in the tournament.
Both batsmen were expected to be sold for high amounts, and that is exactly what happened as Gill and Shaw were picked up by KKR and DD respectively.
KKR fought hard for Gill, as the exciting batsmen made his way to the Eden Gardens. Shaw on the other hand was involved in a tug of war between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Dardevils.
Mumbai fought hard but eventually conceded Shaw to Delhi, as the DD team were very extremely pleased with their acquisition.
No doubt there will be a lot of eyeballs on these two potential stars, as Shaw and Gill will hope to make a mark in this year’s IPL!
