PV Sindhu enters the Quarterfinals of the Singapore Open Super Series
Olympic Silver medalist PV Sindhu enters the quarterfinals of the Singapore Open Super Series following a win over Indonesia’s Fitriani Fitriani by 19-21,21-17,21-8. Si
Fitriani who is 27th in the women’s world ranking, took the first game much to the surprise of everyone. Fifth-seeded Sindhu rallied in the second to force the decider, which she then absolutely dominated to enter the next round.
With an early advantage at 11-4, Sindhu tightened her grip over the match and then won the game and match at 21-8. This was a tough win as PV Sindhu enters the Quarterfinals of the Singapore Open Super Series.

Sindhu will now face a familiar opponent when she faces Carolina Marin in the next round. Sindhu had beaten Marin in the India Open Super Series in New Delhi just a few weeks back. Sindhu had also famously lost to the Spanish player in the finals of the Rio Olympics last year.
Marin had qualified for the next round after she beat China’s Taipei Chia Hsin 21-7, 21-11 in the second round match. It was a comfortable victory for Marin as she closed out the match in less than half an hour.

Sindhu had previously beaten Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara 10-21, 21-15, 22-20 earlier in the tournament. Sindhu has been on a roll lately as she reached a career best ranking of Number 2 just last week.
But she fell a few places down today to 5th. It should not worry Sindhu though as she knows that a couple of wins can change everything.
