Solskjaer permanent manager

Solskjaer films in season ticket promos and talks with Ed Woodward about the transfers.

Manchester United were in a discontent state when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to take over the club in mid-December. The Norwegian took in charge of the club at the back of a 3-1 defeat to their arch-rivals Liverpool in the Premier League at Anfield.

They did lose to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, but the 3-1 defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s men was their last defeat in the Premier League and domestic cup competitions. In the reverse fixture, the Red Devils forced Liverpool to a stalemate despite the injuries to Anthony Martial, Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera, Jesse Lingard, and Marcus Rashford.

Solskjaer is contracted until the end of the season, but there is every chance he would be named as the permanent manager after winning 12 out of the 15 games he has taken in charge till date. He famously admitted that he is learning from Sir Alex Ferguson to charge for the Premier League title once again.

Current Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is tipped to take over the club, but the fans and ex-Manchester United players want Solskjaer to take care of the English outfit on a full-time basis.

Looks like the Norwegian has dropped a huge hint by filming himself in a promo to renew their season tickets and has told vice-chairman Ed Woodward about the incomings and outgoings.

Jose Mourinho was filmed in a promo for United’s pre-season matches in Australia where he said ‘See you Down Under!’ in a clip which was released one month after he was relieved from his managerial duties.

Solskjaer is featuring in many commercial advertisements for Manchester United and the reports claim that he was included in the Adidas photoshoot for club’s next season.  The Norwegian added that he is planning for both ‘Short and long term basis’ and said that Antonio Valencia would be free to leave the Red Devils.

When Solskjaer was asked if he is getting involved with the transfer dealings, he responded ” Yes I have. We’ve been discussing the future of the club. We did that before I had won two or three games and all this talk about if I should stay or not.

“My contract is up in the summer but I still, as I’ve always done for Man United, give my 100 per cent and my best. You have to plan. Even if I’m not here, I still give my view on who I would like to see as a supporter. Everyone knows you’d like to stay, of course, but that’s not decided until the end of the season.”

United are expected to open applications for season ticket renewals next week and have drafted Solskjaer in to lobby fans to sign up for 2019-20.

“I’ve done a photo shoot or a video shoot on season tickets,” Solskjaer added. “So I’m pleading for them to get their season tickets! If it’s me as a supporter or manager, I don’t know, but they should still buy their season tickets because the club is going somewhere.

“It’ll be stranger to see yourself in the video if you’re not here, but no, it’s not strange doing it. If my kids see a commercial with me in it and I’m back home in Norway that’ll be strange probably.

“That’s just part of being here, the commercial. Part of being a player here as well. Suddenly you’re not here anymore and you see your picture. That’s how it is.” said Solskjaer.
