Solskjaer on new contracts

Solskjaer on new contracts: Anthony Martial and David de Gea are yet to put pen on paper of their new contracts at the club.

Manchester United have been impressive under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer so far. The side scored 8 goals in the two games under his charge, scoring five in a single league game for the first time since Sir Alex’s farewell match.

Solskjaer has stated on multiple occasions that he wants to bring back the attacking philosophy at the club.

The side will play their final league game of the year later tonight against Bournemouth at Old Trafford, where they will aim to continue their winning run.

Meanwhile, the manager has addressed the concerns over new contracts for Anthony Martial and David de Gea.

Solskaer on new contracts:

Both the United stars are yet to sign a new deal with the club. Martial has been impressive in this season for Manchester United, and is currently the club’s highest goalscorer in 2018/19.

David de Gea, meanwhile, has not been entirely at his best, but remains solid at the goal for the side.

Solskjaer has now broken silence over their contract situation. He has stated that he will talk to both the players about their future at the club.

“I know the club want them to sign because they are top quality players,” Solskjaer said.

“It’s down to the players but when you’re at Man United there isn’t a lot of greener grass on the other side. You are at the best place. It’s the biggest club in the world.”

Solskjaer insisted that he will guide the duo, and stated that the players should become the “part of club’s history.”

“For me, I would hope I can help or guide these players to maybe tip them over to thinking they want to stay at this club.

“If you are a regular at Manchester United, I think you should grasp the opportunity to stay here and become part of the history.”

Giving his own example, Solskjaer stated that he denied a move to Tottenham during his playing career at Manchester United.

“I had loads of offers and possibilities to move but the manager (Ferguson) sat me down and told me I was going to be an important part of his team, his squad and I was going to play enough games.

“I felt privileged to play here. I am also stubborn. The club agreed to sell me to Spurs one time and I said ‘no, thank you.’ My agent wanted me to go, but I knew I was at the best place.”
