Solskjaer on top-4

Solskjaer on top-4: The Manchester United manager interacted with the media for the first time since assuming the interim role.

Manchester United appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the interim manager of the club until the end of the season. The Norwegian has played for Manchester United for 10 years as a player, lifting 6 PL titles and the European Cup in 1999.

The club parted ways with Jose Mourinho after a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool last weekend. S

The manager spoke to MUTV for the first time since assuming the caretaker role at the club, and insisted that he’s focussed on his players, and intends to bring the best out of them.

Solskjaer also interacted with the media for the pre-match conference ahead of the game against Cardiff City.

Solskjaer on top-4:

The Norwegian manager pressed on various issues ahead of the game against his former club on Saturday. He also talked about his side’s chances in the top-4.

Jose Mourinho, the former Manchester United manager, insisted that the club would finish in top-4 at the end of the season. Despite stating on multiple occasions that Manchester United would climb to the Champions League qualification spots by the end of December, Mourinho failed to deliver as his side lost 3-1 to Liverpool and drifted 11 points away from the fourth-place.

Solskjaer, however, has stated that he doesn’t have specific targets in mind at the moment.

“I think first thing is first game,” Solskjaer said.

“[I] think about getting my principles into the boys, get the players to understand how I want them to play and let’s take the results,” the manager stated.

He insisted that he will not jump into making targets before making his managerial debut with the side.

“[I will] later on see how many points we can gather but this club has made many many points before but I’m not going to set that target now.”

The Norwegian has formerly worked with players like Paul Pogba, who suffered a fall-out in the relationship with Jose Mourinho. Pogba and Mourinho have been critical of each other since the beginning of the season, and the situation became worse after a training session video of the duo in intense argument went viral.

What next?

Manchester United will play Cardiff City on Saturday.
