Suarez on comeback win

Suarez on comeback win: Barcelona’s star Luis Suarez has admitted that the team was in excess of confidence ahead of the game against Rayo Vallecano.

Ernesto Valverde’s side registered an emphatic victory against Rayo Vallecano last night. After being 2-1 down in the second half, two goals within the space of three minutes by Ousmane Dembele and Luis Suarez secured 3 points for Barca.

With this win, Barcelona maintain their position at the top of the table, four points clear of the second-placed Atletico Madrid.

Luis Suarez has stepped up brilliantly in the absence of Barcelona star Lionel Messi. In his last three games, Suarez has scored 6 goals and bagged three assists, which include a hattrick in the season’s first El Clasico at Camp Nou.

As Suarez scored the winner against Rayo Vallecano last night, he interacted with the media to voice his opinion about the performance.

Luis Suarez on comeback win:

The Uruguayan striker admitted the team was in excess of confidence after their win in the El Clasico. Earlier, Ernesto Valverde hinted that his side might be suffering from overconfidence, and Suarez agreed with the manager’s comments.

“It’s true, we probably were too confident,” Suarez told the reporters after the win.

However, Luis Suarez also praised Rayo Vallecano, who produced an excellent display against the defending champions.

“But we must credit Rayo Vallecano, they need points and were excellent, they brought the game to us and were very impressive.

“At the end of the day the most important thing from our perspective was to pick up the three points, then evaluate our performance.”

Suarez stated that he is satisfied with his contribution to the side.

“My own contribution? My job is to score goals and help the team, thankfully I did that.”

What next?

Barcelona will now travel to Italy where they will take on Inter Milan at San Siro. The Catalan side registered a convincing 2-0 victory over the Italian side at Camp Nou.

Ernesto Valverde could receive a massive boost as reports from Spain claim that Lionel Messi might be fit for the game against Inter Milan. The Argentine star is out of action since his arm injury against Sevilla two weeks ago.

Messi missed the games against Inter and Real Madrid, but Barcelona registered thumping victories in both the matches.
