Sven Mislintat leaves Arsenal: Arsenal have officially announced the departure of their Head of Recruitment.

Arsenal’s Head of Recruitment, Sven Mislintat, will leave the club on February 8, 2019.

Mislintat arrived at the club in December 2017 and has been key to the signings of players like Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Lucas Torreira, among others.

It was earlier reported that there were differences between Mislintat and head coach Unai Emery, even when Emery denied the claims in the press conference last week.

Sven Mislintat leaves Arsenal:

Arsenal announced the departure of Mislintat on their official social media platforms.

They also thanked the German scout for his services to the club on their website.

“Sven has been with us since December 1, 2017 and has done a truly outstanding job in helping us recruit players who are making a big impact now and will do so even more in the future,” Arsenal wrote.

“We wish him every success for the future and thank him for his extremely hard work on behalf of Arsenal.”

Mislintat also issued a statement on his departure, where he stated that he’s looking forward to new challenges.

“It’s been an amazing experience to work at a great club like Arsenal in what has been a big time of change. I am excited about what the future holds for the club and am looking forward to new challenges for myself,” said Mislintat, as quoted by the official Arsenal website.

Mislintat was brought at Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund.

A report from Independent earlier claimed that Mislintat has not had a preferable relationship with Arsenal’s new regime – which includes the director of football, Raul Sanllehi, and that Unai Emery holds a higher say in the transfers now.

Independent also reported that the head of recruitment brought to the table his list of players which could be considered for signings, but they weren’t followed up.

The report further states that Bayern Munich are eyeing a possible move for the German scout.

The Bundesliga side has not had a favourable season in the league so far. Bayern are currently six points behind Borussia Dortmund at the second place in the table.

With Arjen Robben leaving at the end of the season and a rapidly ageing squad, Bayern are aiming an overhaul, and identify Mislintat as a perfect man to lead the change.

Here’s how Arsenal fans reacted to the news of his departure:
