Star batsman, Ajinkya Rahane is fighting for a spot in the starting XI, ahead of India’s opening match against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy. The Mumbai batsman will get his chance in the warm-up games against New Zealand and Bangladesh, as Rahane will look to impress the team management before the tournament starts. Ahead of the warm-up games, Rahane spoke to the media, where in he seemed confident and told the press that team India is in really good shape ahead of the Champions Trophy.
The fact that a quality player like Rahane is not guaranteed a spot in team, just goes to show the strength and depth in the squad. He will be competing with Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan for an opening spot in the eleven.

This is what Rahane had to say after a practice session at the Lords cricket ground.
“It feels really good to be back here. I have got some good memories on this ground, especially winning the Test match here after such a long time and getting a hundred on a winning side was really special for me. Getting my name on that board always feels special and I think that knock is one my best knock in Test cricket.”
“My first reaction was to look my name on the board and felt so happy to see my name there alongside such great names… Rahul (Dravid) bhai, Dilip Vengsarkar and such great names,” he added.
“The mood has been really good. We had a fantastic first practice session here at the Lord’s. All guys were looking forward to the practice session because many of them were playing for the first time on this ground. So you get such a great feeling when you play here. It’s a great culture for this sport.”
“It’s great to see that boys are having fun on the tour while travelling for the practice sessions. It’s important to have fun while playing cricket as well because you cannot be serious all the time and each other’s success, enjoy each other’s company because all of us are playing together for a long time. It’s a great unit to be a part of,” he added.
