Teemu Pukki is a nightmare to TV broadcasters in Thailand due to his name

Teemu Pukki is a nightmare to Thai broadcasters because of an unfortunate translation of his name in the South East Asian country.

Teemu Pukki has been a major revelation in the Premier League after his promising performances in the top-flight English league with Norwich City.

Even though, Pukki was successful for their Canaries last season by scoring 29 league goals in the Championship to promote his side. However, how he will perform in the Premier League was a big question.

Now, the Finnish striker has gained prominence in the league after scoring 5 goals, one less than Sergio Aguero in the race of the Golden boot award.

Amidst his popularity in the world football, the 29-year-old player has caused a huge problem for broadcasters in Thailand over a profane meaning of his name in Thailand’s language.

Simply put, the term ‘Pukki’ is a colloquial term for ‘c***’ in the Asian nation. Former Liverpool man Stan Collymore confirmed the unfortunate coincidence while working for Malaysian TV channel Stadium Astra.

Unfortunately, Pukki might be remembered in Thailand over his name and not on his goal-scoring prowess. Either way, the Finnish has been a breath of fresh air in the Premier League and we certainly hope he continues banging them in for the rest of the season. With Norwich languishing in the relegation zone already, they are going to need every goal he can get them. Some Malaysian broadcasters on the though, might not mind if Pukki’s electric start to life in the top flight fades into obscurity over the coming months.

The Finnish International has certainly won admirers as he has been brilliant with his performances and also have scored against two of the top-6 clubs they have faced so far, which are Liverpool and Chelsea. Pukki is expected to bee even more explosive in the upcoming matches.
