"Roger Federer Is in Halle": Fans Lose Their Minds as Halle Open Celebrates 30 Years by Commemorating 10-Time Champion

Roger Federer may have retired from the sport in 2022, but he continues to live rent free in many fans’ hearts to this day. It wouldn’t be a stretch to even say he will remain the best and favorite tennis player for many. The sheer joy on everyone’s faces when he walked on the court once again at Halle is testimony to this. The jubilance was not restricted just to the spectators present a the venue with many taking to twitter to express their delight.

Halle Open is celebrating its 30 years since inception and to mark the occasion in the best, most memorable possible way, the organizers invited Federer over. And the Swiss star, who has won the tournament an amazing 10 times over the course of his career, was happy to oblige.

The Roger Federer frenzy

The organizers at Halle had scheduled a ceremony to honor Roger Federer following the match between top seed Daniil Medvedev and Laslo Djere. Not surprisingly, the stadium was packed to the rafters to get a glimpse of the Swiss superstar.

In fact, when Djere managed to win the second set and draw level with Medvedev, the crowd let out an audible sigh as well. No, not because they wanted Djere to lose or Medvedev to win badly but because they were waiting in anticipation for the man who has won the title there 10 times.

Once Medvedev had wrapped up the match in the third set, Federer walked out to deafening cheers. The spectators couldn’t whip out their cameras quickly enough to capture this moment.

Here’s a look at it from the crowd.

Now that’s a reception worthy of the Swiss Maestro.

As you can imagine, it wasn’t just the stadium that was filled to the brim with fans wanting to get a look.

And here is Federer being his usual gentlemanly self and clicking some photos with the fans.

All in all, it was a treat that fans present there will certainly not forget. Even fans at home could not hold back their happiness at seeing the great man back at Halle even if he wasn’t there as a player this time around.
