Roger Federer is renowned as one of the most famous sportspersons of all-time, making tennis look extremely attractive with his elegance and poise. Sadness was the main ruling emotion when the Swiss superstar decided to call it quits from the game in 2022.
Taking his enviable fan following into account, many always wonder how Roger Federer is leading his post-retirement life and beyond the content on his social media handles. As a result, Federer’s former coach and ex-World No.3, Ivan Ljubicic revealed one comical secret of Federer’s in recent times, during a candid interaction with Sport Klub.
Ivan Ljubicic opens up about Roger Federer’s busy schedule
With a number of initiatives, brand endorsements and other commitments outside the game of tennis, Roger Federer continues to keep himself occupied, which requires a lot of travelling. Recently, Federer was seen with his father while being honored in Halle on June 21, which is known as the ‘Roger Federer Day’, for winning the most number of titles at the popular grass court ATP 500 event every year before the Wimbledon Championships. Currently, he is in London, getting set for Wimbledon but in a role unknown yet to many.
Yet, Ljubicic gave Federer the credit for putting in an effort for meeting him ‘few times in a year’, while also keeping in touch telephonically on a regular basis. The Croatian had a hilarious anecdote in which he mentioned missing a large majority of the Novak Djokovic vs Carlos Alcaraz French Open 2023 semi-final, since Federer and him were having a fun day out at the beach. Ljubicic is of the opinion that Federer’s life is ‘definitely not boring’.
“Roger travels more now compared to when he was playing, but we make an effort to see each other a few times a year. His life is definitely not boring. Actually, we watched one part of the Djokovic – Alcaraz match together, but we were mostly on the beach, you’re going to have to forgive us.”
Interestingly, when asked about who is Roger Federer’s favorite between Djokovic and Alcaraz, Ljubicic responded that he didn’t support any of them as much as he loved their ‘exceptional level of tennis’. However, the 20-time Grand Slam winner is full of admiration for Novak Djokovic.
This could come as a surprise to the tennis community as recently Federer claimed in public that he wasn’t sure to call Djokovic the ‘GOAT’ of the game as long as Rafael Nadal is still active on the ATP Tour. His comments on comparing Boris Becker’s Wimbledon win at the age of 17 and Novak Djokovic’s French Open win at 36 certainly drew flak from many quarters.
Roger Federer net worth, house and personal life
As per Celebrity Net Worth, Roger Federer’s net worth stood at a whopping $550 million when he quit the game in late 2022. Federer is one of the 7 sportspersons in history to have taken home a total of $1.1 billion when his prize money from tournaments and brand endorsements are added up.
Through just one brand endorsement contract which he signed up in 2018 with Japanese apparel company, i.e. Uniqlo, Federer would have pocketed $600 million from it alone by 2028 since he also owns a 3% stake in the brand. Federer’s business acumen has set him perfectly for a cosy retirement life, as he is also a venture capitalist in a Chilean food-tech company as well as a Swiss shoe-making company.
Roger Federer also owns two luxurious properties, one in Zurich and the other in Dubai. He lives with his wife Mirka and four children – Myla, Charlene, Lenny and Leo.
