This was the first time that the world really sat up and took notice of this prodigious young talent as the girl from Hyderabad took apart some of the biggest names in the game en route to the final.
Sindhu was playing a supreme brand of badminton as she beat the likes of Wang Yihan and Carolina Marin in the quarter finals and semi finals respectively.
But the dream ended when defending champion Li Xuerui defeated Sindhu easily in the final.
