The (Un)Real Interview with Mesut Ozil

TheSportsRush brings The (Un)Real Interview with Mesut Ozil, as Germany are thumped 3-0 by the Netherlands.

Germany found themselves struggling against The Netherlands during the Nations League encounter. Goals from Virgil van Dijk, Memphis Depay and Giorgino Wijnaldum led the Dutch to a 3-0 victory over a hopeless German side.

As Loew’s side failed to score in their third straight match, the internet didn’t hesitate to call Germany out for their blatant criticism of Mesut Ozil. The Arsenal midfielder announced his retirement from the national side, owing to racism after the World Cup.

As Germany finds themselves at the bottom of the table in the Nations League, we caught up with Ozil to know his thoughts on the dismal performance of German national side.

Hello Mesut, I believe you must have seen The Netherlands vs Germany?

The Netherlands vs who..?

Umm, Germany..

Aah, that poor lot. They can’t get any more Loew now, can they? Haha.

That’s a nice pun there, Mesut. What went wrong with Germany?

I didn’t track back, probably.

Haha. On a serious note though, did you see the match?

What do you mean, ‘see’ the match? Didn’t you know that I was playing? I’m not passionate enough about Germany. I was just strolling around, not applying myself to the fullest, being the biggest reason for our loss.

Umm, alright. What do you have to say to your German colleagues?

I’d say if Toni [Kroos] performed as aggressively as he does in front of cameras during interviews, Germany might have actually won, you know. But obviously, it’s sad for them. They don’t have anyone to blame the loss for.

I didn’t develop a back injury for anything.

Do you believe that Germany should apologize to you?

Yes.

It is sad that such serious allegation of racism is being so outrightly neglected by DFB..

No no no. I don’t need an apology for racism anymore.

Oh, so?

I need an apology for giving my number 10 to Julian effing Brandt! God, the audacity..

Oh yes, that too.. Anyway, we heard that Joachim Loew visited Arsenal’s training ground a few weeks ago?

Oh yes, he did. But Unai Emery saw him putting his finger inside the nose while entering our training complex and banned him straightaway.

That’s strange. He does that all the time!

It was Unai Emery’s nose.

Oh, that’s terrible.

Just like Germany’s performance yesterday.

Do you think they will bounce back from this?

I don’t know. All I know is that it’s easier to deal with Martin Keown than racism all the time.

Well, thank you, Mesut.

It was good assisting you.
