Here is the real reason for Ronaldo’s departure from Real Madrid.
Cristiano Ronaldo established himself as one of the greats at Real Madrid and became the top scorer of the club. But, he decided to leave to the Italian outfit Juventus during the summer of 2018 for a fee of 100 million euros.
His arrival at Turin has shaken the whole league as the Serie A side are currently leading the table with 59 points from 21 games, losing just four points with two draws in the process. Furthermore, Juventus who have featured in two Champions League finals in the last four years are being tipped to lift Europe’s prestigious competition this term.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the record Champions League holder with five trophies. This one among the reasons for Juventus being cited as the favourites to lift the trophy.
On the other hand, Real Madrid have been struggling both offensively and defensively. Real Madrid’s top scorer is Karim Benzema with 15 goals this season and the second in the list is Gareth Bale with 12. Other than these two, none of the players have reached the double digits this season which is rather unusual at the Los Blancos.
After moving to Juventus, Ronaldo spoke to the media and said that Florentino Perez was the main reason for the departure from Real Madrid in the summer window.
The Portuguese International said “I felt it inside the club, especially from the president, that they no longer considered me the same way that they did in the start… The president looked at me through eyes that didn’t want to say the same thing, as if I was no longer indispensable to them, if you know what I mean.”
“That’s what made me think about leaving. Sometimes I’d look at the news, where they were saying I was asking to leave. There was a bit of that but the truth is I always had the impression the president would not hold me back… The truth is that the president wanted me but, at the same time, he made it known to me that my departure would not constitute a problem.”
The additional detail has been spotted by the La Liga expert Guillem Balague. He revealed that the former Real Madrid forward left because Florentino Perez wanted a less buyout clause in his contract.
The report also adds on that the reigning European Champions were ready to offer a new contract to Cristiano Ronaldo, but the lower buyout clause infuriated the former Real Madrid man. Additionally, then new manager Julen Lopetegui was unaware of the developing likeliness of Ronaldo leaving to Juventus.

Speaking to the GB Transfer Show, he said
“Julen Lopetegui had no idea Cristiano was leaving. There was no real push from Real Madrid for him to go…Cristiano was saying to Real ‘if you want me to stay, then give me a new contract.”
“And Florentino Perez said OK – but if you wouldn’t mind, lower your buyout clause. To a more manageable buyout clause… How do you think Cristiano reacted to that?”
“He was like ‘they don’t want me, they don’t want me! Go get me a team to Jorge Mendes [agent].”
