Tottenham vs Manchester City match prediction: Who will win today’s CL game?
Tottenham and Manchester City take each other on in the first leg of the Champions League clash on Tuesday night. We bring you the predictions for the game.
Manchester City will visit the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Tuesday night as Guardiola’s men take on the Londoners in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal.
City entered the final of the FA Cup last week with a win over Brighton, which kept their hopes for a historic quadruple alive. The side won the Carabao Cup in February, and faces an intense battle with Liverpool for the Premier League title.
Tottenham, meanwhile, will aim at spoiling Manchester City’s party in the game at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Let’s take a look at the prediction for the game:
Tottenham vs Manchester City – What do numbers suggest?
This is the first time when Tottenham and Man City are taking each other on in Europe’s premier tournament.
Tottenham qualified for the quarterfinal with a huge win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. The side scored four goals against the Bundesliga side across both the legs.
Manchester City, meanwhile, destroyed another German side, Schalke 04 at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s side scored seven past Schalke to ensure passage to the quarterfinal.
Tottenham last defeated Manchester City in 2016, and so, Pochettino’s side faces an uphill task to go past the Blues in the competition. Sergio Aguero’s record against Tottenham also oozes confidence among the City fans, as the striker has scored 10 goals past the North Londoners across all competitions.
Form:
Manchester City has been one of the most consistent sides in England over the last two seasons. The league’s defending champions walked through to their Premier League title last season. While their Champions League campaign ended in the quarterfinal at the hands of Liverpool, Manchester City will aim to secure their first ever European title this season.
City’s last defeat across all competitions came in January this season. Tottenham, however, have faced with fluctuations in form. The side was on a three-game losing run in the Premier League before defeating Crystal Palace 2-0 in the mid-week fixture last week.
Pochettino’s men conceded defeats to Chelsea, Southampton and Liverpool, and shared points with Arsenal within their last five league games. Fair to say, the side’s record against top-6 hardly oozes confidence in the dressing room.
What we predict:
We believe Manchester City will defeat Tottenham in the game. Their current form is brilliant and the quadruple can now be realistically achieved.
