Trusting MS Dhoni blindly aids Kedar Jadhav

Trusting MS Dhoni blindly aids Kedar Jadhav: The Indian all-rounder was wax lyrical about the wicket-keeper batsman.

The more India all-rounder Kedar Jadhav plays at the highest level, the more he lets everyone know how crucial he is to this limited-overs squad. An all-rounder in its true sense, Jadhav covers two areas in which the Indian team has struggled in the recent past – finishing the innings and bowling as the sixth bowler.

In the batting department, the Indian batting has heavily relied on its top three (Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli) in the recent past. While this trio has been belting bowlers at will in the last half a decade, the others have been found wanting to take the onus on them during the slog overs.

Similarly, India have quality specialist bowlers but on days when one of them struggles, the captain is left searching for options. That being said, the presence of Jadhav has ensured the captain Kohli that the above mentioned couple of bases are covered.

Be it the third ODI against Australia at Melbourne or the second one against New Zealand at Mount Maunganui, Jadhav has made optimum use of the chances which came his way.

In a conversation with Sunil Gavaskar and Scott Styris after the second ODI yesterday, the 33-year old cricketer who played under Mahendra Singh Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings credited blindly trusting Dhoni coming good for him, especially when it comes to bowling in the middle-overs.

“In the past also I have mentioned, every time I get a question I just look at MS Dhoni and he tells me ‘You have to do this and bowl here’ and that’s it. I close my eyes and put my ball there. That’s it. And you get a wicket,” Jadhav was quoted as saying.
