Wow! We all knew that Dominic Theim is one to watch out for in the future, but no one could have expected this! Thiem beat defending champion, Novak Djokovcic 7-6, 6-3, 6-0 in straight sets as he romped his way into the semi-finals of the French Open.
This was a monumental upset, as the world number two Djokovic had shown signs of recapturing his best form over the last couple of matches. But Thiem had none of it, as he swatted away the defending champion with consummate ease.
This takes Djokovic right back to the drawing board, while Thiem moves on to face the legendary Rafael Nadal in the semi finals.
Here are the best reactions as Twitter goes berserk as Thiem THRASHES Djokovic in the French Open.
Djokovic just doesn't get how he can go from playing great to play that kind of match today. Seems pretty touched by this loss.

That’s the big win on the big stage Dominic Thiem’s resume was lacking. First top 10 win at a major, against Novak Djokovic no less #RG17

Popular opinion would have you believe that God rested on the 7th day. He was actually creating Dominic Thiem #RollandGarros

Dominic Thiem (who has a 11-3 record at RG) has only played once on Philippe Chatrier Court, 2nd Round 2014 Vs Nadal, 1104 days ago#RG17

Federer in 2013.
Nadal in 2015.
Djokovic in 2017.
The 3 giants of their era all fell into very dark places.
The first 2 rebounded.

A year ago, Djokovic had won four straight Slams and made 23 of 24 Slam SFs.
All four titles go undefended, only once reaching SFs. #rg17

Djokovic will have 5805 points on Monday, which is unofficially his lowest points total since June 2007. Exactly a decade.

Novak Djokovic will drop out of the world's top two for the first time since July 2011.

#2 Novak Djokovic falls to #3 with loss, passed by Nadal.
Wawrinka can also pass Djokovic, to push him to #4, by reaching #RG17 final.

This is a crazy sport. 12 months ago Djokovic commanded all he surveyed. 12 months later he's slamless and in an arid mental wilderness.

The last time Djokovic got bageled in a loss:
Slam – way back in 2005 (Safin, Aus Open)
Non slam – recent past in 2012 (Federer, Cincy)— Sivaram (@SivaramL) June 7, 2017
After 51 minutes Nadal moves into the semis.
After 51 minutes Djokovic and Thiem are still in the first set.
Oh.
