During the first day of the second Test of the ongoing Australia’s tour of UAE at Abu Dhabi, Australia’s premier off-spinner Nathan Lyon ran through Pakistan’s middle order as he dismissed four opposition batsmen within a span of six balls.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, coming in to at 57-5 in the 22nd over was the last thing Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed would have thought of. At 57-1, it appeared to be a decent start for the home team. That being said, what followed was least anticipated.
GOAT Lyon caused the damage
It all started on the penultimate delivery of the 20th over when Azhar Ali played a rash shot only to be out caught and bowled by the bowler. Stepping out, Ali mis-timed the ball straight to Lyon, who grabbed an easy take. Ali ended up scoring 15 (48) with the help of two fours.

Asad Shafiq (0) managed to survive the hat-trick ball on the first ball of the 22nd over but ended up giving a bat-pad chance to Marnus Labuschagne on the next delivery.
An impatient Babar Azam (0), who came in to bat at No. 6, tried to stepped out on the second delivery that he faced only to miss the ball completely. Vicious turn from Lyon saw the ball hitting the top of the stumps as. After the over, Lyon’s bowling figures were 5-4-4-4.
Record-breaking spell
In the process, Lyon surpassed two of Australia’s greatest Test bowlers in Brett Lee (310 wickets) and Mitchell Johnson (314 wickets). Starting the match at 310 wickets, Lyon crossed both of them in six balls to become Australia’s fourth-highest wicket-taker in Test matches.
