Twitter reactions on MS Dhoni's insane innings

Twitter reactions on MS Dhoni’s insane innings: Twitter was exhilarated to witness a nerve-wrenching match between CSK and RCB.

During the 39th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings at Bengaluru, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 1 runs to register their third IPL 2019 victory.

Chasing a moderate 162-run target, Super Kings were put on the back foot by Dale Steyn and Umesh Yadav in the powerplay after the visitors were reduced to 32/4 in the powerplay.

CSK batsman Ambati Rayudu (29) and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni did stitch a 55-run partnership for the fifth wicket but an ever-increasing required run rate asked a lot of question from them.

In what was an inspired bowling performance by Royal Challengers’ bowlers, they remained ahead in the match after the halfway mark in the second innings. From needing 105 runs in the last 10 overs, the equation had come down to Chennai needing 36 runs in the last two overs with four wickets in hand.

26 runs. One over.

With Dhoni and all-rounder Dwayne Bravo on strike, the advantage was still with the hosts. With Dhoni refusing three singles in the penultimate over, CSK required a mammoth 26 runs in the last over.

Hitting one four and three sixes in the over, Dhoni brought down the equation to needing two runs from the last ball. In what was the last twist in the match, Dhoni missed the ball and RCB wicket-keeper ran out Shardul Thakur to defend the total by 1 run.

Coming in to bat at No. 6 in the sixth over, Dhoni ended up scoring 84* (48) with the help of five fours and seven sixes.

After Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and put the hosts in to bat, RCB ended up scoring  in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel was the pick of the batsmen for RCB as he registered his 13th IPL half-century.

Before being dismissed in the 16th over, Patel scored 53 (37) with the help of two fours and four sixes. With bowling figures of 4-0-25-2, CSK pacer Deepak Chahar was their highest wicket-taker.
