Twitter reactions on Pakistan's win vs England in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

Twitter reactions on Pakistan’s win vs England: Twitter was excited on watching the nerve-wrenching high-scoring thriller.

During the sixth match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between England and Pakistan at Trent Bridge, Pakistan defeated England by 14 runs to register their maiden victory of the tournament.

Chasing a 349-run total, England didn’t start off well as they lost opening batsman Jason Roy (8) in the third over itself. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, it was a 130-run opening partnership between Joe Root (107) and Jos Buttler (103) which had kept the hosts in contention to chase the total.

While both the batsmen scored individual hundreds, it weren’t enough as Pakistani bowlers kept coming back with wickets at regular intervals. Once Root and Buttler got out, things appeared difficult for the hosts and that is what eventually happened.

With 38 runs needed to win in the last three overs, the match still remained in balance. Having said that, Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz dismissing both Moeen Ali (19) and Chris Woakes (21) on consecutive deliveries saw his team sitting on the driver’s seat.

At the end of 50 overs, England scored 334/9 as Wahab Riaz (10-0-82-3) was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan.

After England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and chose to field, Pakistan ended up scoring 348/8 in their allotted quota of 50 overs. Mohammad Hafeez, who came in to bat at No. 4 in the 21st over, top-scored for Pakistan scoring 84 (62) with the help of eight fours and a couple of sixes. With bowling figures of 10-0-50-3, England all-rounder Moeen Ali was the highest wicket-taker for the hosts.
