Twitter reactions on Vijay Hazare Trophy final

Twitter reactions on Vijay Hazare Trophy final: Twitter was exhilarated after Mumbai won the Vijay Hazare Trophy final.

A four-wicket victory over Delhi has handed Mumbai their third Vijay Hazare Trophy title. In which was a hard-fought chase, Mumbai stood tall at the end on the back of a 105-run partnership between Siddhesh Lad and Aditya Tare for the fifth wicket.

Earlier, Shreyas Iyer, captain of Mumbai, had won the toss and chose to field. Mumbai’s new ball opening pair of Dhawal Kulkarni and Tushar Deshpande restricted the opposition to 21-3 in the sixth over at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Delhi never really looked to stage a comeback from this position for they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Pawan Negi, who won them the Semi final, had to walk back as retired hurt on 21*, something which further worsened Delhi’s case.

Delhi were eventually bundled out on 177 in 45.4 overs. Himmat Singh, who came in to bat at No. 6, top-scored with 41 (65). His innings was comprised of four fours and a six. With bowling figures of 10-2-29-3, Shivam Dubey was the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai.

The second innings started with Delhi’s duo of Navdeep Saini and Kulwant Khejroliya pumping up the gas with the ball in hand. To aid them were Mumbai’s batsmen, who kept on playing rash shots to make matters worse for them in the form of being restricted to 40-4 in the eight over.

It was at this point in time that Lad (48) and Tare (71) joined hands to rescue the Mumbai innings. With Delhi captain Gautam Gambhir continuously attacking the opposition batsmen, the run-scoring opportunities never dried up for Mumbai.

Bowling out the opposition was the only option for Delhi for without which they wouldn’t have ever won the match.

With Dubey (19) and Kulkarni (0) in the middle, Mumbai sealed the chase in 35 overs. With bowling figures of 10-0-53-3, Delhi was the pick of Delhi’s bowlers.
