Israel Adesanya is inarguably one of the greatest middleweight fighters in the UFC. He was undefeated in the 185lbs roster until 2022. Also, Izzy has defeated almost every middleweight UFC fighter to reach the top.
However, bad luck followed him as his old rival Alex Pereira entered the UFC. The Brazilian fighter put on a show at UFC 281 and stopped ‘The Last Stylebender’ in the fifth round. With this victory, ‘Poatan’ impressed many people. One of them was the former lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira.
Charles Oliveira praised Alex Pereira for his win over Israel Adesanya
Recently, the UFC legend Michael Bisping put out a tweet asking people who they thought was the fighter of the year. The Brazilian lightweight star instantly replied by taking Alex Pereira’s name and also tagged him.

While explaining his answer, Oliveira stated Pereira defeated one of the most talented fighters in the promotion. Thus, he deserved these accolades. “Alex Poatan @AlexPereiraUFC The man beat a great & very talented champ to capture the 185 belt,” Oliveira wrote.

Many fans agreed with the Brazilian star Oliveira in the comment section. Pereira outstruck Adesanya on the feet. Although most of the rounds went on Izzy’s side, Pereira pulled one of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport. He landed a barrage of punches in the fifth round, forcing the referee to stop the fight and crown him the new UFC middleweight champion.
The rematch is inevitable
It goes without saying that Izzy has one of the most amazing middleweight resumes under his name. However, this loss has left a mark on it. Pereira already had two wins over the UFC star during their Glory Kickboxing days.
Thus, a third win has left no doubt on his side. But it will be wrong to deny a rematch to Adesanya, as he has held the title for so long, defeating almost every elite 185lbs fighter. Also, given the history of their last fight, a rematch is sure to happen. However, there has been no official announcement of the same.
Do you guys think Adesanya should get a rematch? Do you agree with Oliveira?
