Jon Jones is a formidable force when it comes to the art of combat sports. The 35-year-old, despite his current inactivity, is perhaps the greatest mixed martial artist to ever step foot into the coveted UFC octagon. Jones’ elite fight IQ, aligned with his superior wrestling and Jiu Jitsu skill set, enabled him to be the prodigious and illustrious martial artist he is today.
He has utilized his length, reach and height to overcome several arduous striking challenges imposed upon him by his opponents. The trinity provides him with opportunities to nullify their attack, whilst implementing and executing his own wrestling and BJJ game upon them.
His victories over Vitor Belfort, Lyoto Machida, Rampage Jackson, and Ryan Bader, albeit over half a decade ag, were an attestation to his substantial ground game.
And it was on full display in 2016 when he decimated two quality opponents on the same night.

Jon Jones submits two men on the same night!
Jon Jones was an undefeated fighter in 2016, who had dismantled the UFC’s light heavyweight division, En route to affixing himself as the greatest LHW of all time.
But when he tested positive for performance-enhancing substances, his UFC career was put on hold. In lieu, Bones decided to put his Jiujitsu skills to the test.
In an event hosted by the North American Grappling Association, Jones made his presence known. He out grappled and submitted two opponents on the same night. The first individual was forced to tap, following Jones entering his guard and applying the guillotine.
The second man was submitted with a modified version of the D’Arce choke. A good night in the office for the former UFC champion.
Jon Jones’ 2023 return?
March 2023, would mark three years since the UFC and fight fans across the globe have witnessed Jon Jones in the octagon. Since he outlasted Dominik Reyes to a unanimous decision victory, Jones has been inactive.
He has since been focusing on a jump-up in weight class, with his objective to fight in the UFC heavyweight division. While that remains on hold, due to indifference regarding pay with the UFC, Jones has focused on enhancing his muscle mass and physique to meet the demands of the 265lbs division.

The former Light heavyweight King recently put out a tweet, indicating his desire and aim to capture the Heavyweight championship.
After all, this might just be the year we see the famed martial artist grace the fighting promotion again.
