Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler is most probably going to be one of the biggest UFC fights of the year. The UFC announced the return of the former two-weight champion McGregor last year. Following that, both the combatants have finished shooting for the upcoming season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ as coaches. It will reportedly be dropping near the end of May. Ever since then, fight fans are eagerly waiting for any developments in the fight.
Interestingly, ‘The Notorious,’ who was recently spotted at a major boxing event of the year, gave a fresh update on the fight. Let’s check out what the Dublin native said.
What did ‘The Notorious’ say about the fight?
McGregor recently attended the grudge match between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Following that, the former UFC champion was spotted enjoying his time in a casino.
While gambling on roulette, McGregor was interviewed by Inside Fighting. The reporter asked McGregor about his UFC return to which he replied, “Sometime end of summer.”
He talked about a few other things in the same interview, including his interest in a rematch between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis. Although McGregor has given a timeline for his fight, it is not official yet.
It is also important to note that the Irishman is yet to enter the USADA testing pool, which he hasn’t done since his injury. Given all these factors, many are doubtful about the fight happening.
UFC legend is skeptical about Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler
Although the UFC has announced the mega fight between Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor, several important aspects of it, including the place, date, and weight class of the fight, are yet to be confirmed.
That being said, the former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen is skeptical that the fight will happen. Sonnen talked about it in an interview and mentioned all the factors important for a fight to come to fruition.
Sonnen, post his retirement from MMA, has taken the role of an analyst. Thus, he is aware of the ins and outs of the sport. Nevertheless, both McGregor and Chandler have already coached for TUF. Moreover, the fight has generated a lot of hype.
Also, it will surely generate good business for the promotion given McGregor’s stardom. Thus, it is very likely that the bout will come to fruition. However, fans will still have to wait for confirmation from the UFC.
