The president of UFC Dana While has hailed The Rock on his purchase. The Hollywood megastar is one of the new owners of XFL.
On Monday, The Rock along with Dany Garcia and Redbird Capital have together bought the XFL for $15 million. XFL is a professional football league in the United States, which ran for a single season in 2001, and discontinued after that for not being able to generate returns. In January, 2018, a body by the name of Alpha Entertainment, which is owned by the WWE chairman Vince McMahon, announced the revival of XFL, and was set to restart in 2020. The league was pitted to have a different fate this time, but was hit by the Corona Pandemic, and as a consequence the inaugural season after the new beginning was left in the lurch.
However, the ownership is changed now. Which means it will not get terminated this time.
With my trail blazing partner @DanyGarciaCo & Red Bird Capital, we have acquired the XFL.
With gratitude & passion I’ve built a career with my own two hands and will apply these callouses to our @xfl2020 brand.
Excited to create something special for the fans! #XFL #fullcircle pic.twitter.com/LprJ6HjglD— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) August 3, 2020

Before this statement, Dana White spoke to TMZ, where he said, “Don’t be surprised if The Rock slides right into that slot with some great programming. ‘Cause let me tell you what, people are dying to watch live sports right now.”
They say third time is a charm, and with Dwayne Johnson and associates on board, let’s see how it pans out for the league.
