Conor McGregor Khabib Nurmagomedov

Conor McGregor, the former two-division UFC champion, goes off on his old rival Khabib Nurmagomedov during his rants about fighters’ bets. Combat sports athletes betting their purses against each other has become a common thing in recent times. Competing combatants wager a sizeable chunk or the entire payment on the fight before it. Examples of this type of wagering include the Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury matchup when both competitors stipulated that the winner would get the entire purse. Even Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis recently settled on a wager that was all or nothing.

However, the former UFC champion McGregor spoke against such betting. He somehow then stumbled upon the question of his old rival Khabib Nurmagomedov. ‘The Notorious’ couldn’t help but poke fun at him.

What did Conor McGregor say about Khabib Nurmagomedov?

‘The Notorious’ took to his official Twitter account to talk about competing fighters betting their purses against each other. In a series of tweets, he questioned the practicality and wisdom of such bets, suggesting that they were unrealistic and foolish.

He advised his fellow competitors to focus on training hard and earning money through their hard work and dedication. McGregor emphasized that fighters should take pride in their earnings and avoid taking unnecessary risks.

After that, a Twitter user made fun of ‘The Notorious’ by claiming that he owed money to Khabib Nurmagomedov, his Russian former opponent. McGregor answered by firing a shot at ‘The Eagle.’ The Irishman said, “Khabib is a fat bitch with tits now, lad.”

Nurmagomedov and McGregor fought in 2018, where the Russian submitted the Dubliner in the fourth round of the fight. However, even after four years of the fight, the rivalry between them seems to have not ended.

Nurmagomedov excludes McGregor from his top-15 MMA fighters list

‘The Eagle’ recently on his official Twitter account provided the list of the top 15 greatest MMA fighters. In his list, Nurmagomedov included the likes of Georges St-Pierre, Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier, and more.

However, the Russian mixed martial artist snubbed Conor McGregor. ‘The Notorious’ is the first-ever two-weight champion in the UFC. He also holds a record for the fastest knockout in a title fight. The Dubliner was undefeated in fifteen straight MMA fights before his loss to Nate Diaz.

‘The Notorious’ undoubtedly deserves a spot among the top-15 MMA fighters of all time, given his amazing career and contributions to the sport. Thus, the MMA community was somewhat taken aback when McGregor was left off of Nurmagomedov’s list.

What do you guys think about Nurmagomedov’s list? Do you agree with him? What is your reaction to McGregor’s tweet?
