Conor McGregor has only fought once in the past 12 months. However, that proved to be more than enough to cement him among the highest paid athletes around the world. The ‘Notorious One’ landed at 16th place this year $48 million.

The Irishman however, is the only UFC and MMA star to feature in the list.

There are however, three more boxers in the list apart from Tyson Fury.

IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua was number 19, with $47 million in earnings. He is followed by former world champion Deontay Wilder at number 20, with $46.5 million in earnings.

Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez is at 30th place.

Forbes revealed that the 100 highest paid athletes earned a combined $3.6 billion this year, which is 9% below 2019 and the first decline since 2016. In fact, the salary cuts forced by the coronavirus pandemic allowed Federer to overtake Ronaldo and Messi for the first time.

“The coronavirus pandemic triggered salary cuts for soccer stars Messi and Ronaldo, clearing the way for a tennis player to rank as the world’s highest-paid athlete for the first time,” said Kurt Badenhausen, Senior Editor, Forbes.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
