Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from fighting back in 2020 following his win over Justin Gaethje. By doing so, he brought an end to a glorious career that saw him fight some of the best guys during his time. And also made a strong case for himself to be called arguably the greatest MMA fighter of all time. Having retired from fighting, Khabib Nurmagomedov started coaching guys at his gym. However, earlier this year he stopped that as well, and as a result, he gained a lot of weight.
The same became the talking point of the MMA community for quite some time. But it looks like Nurmagomedov has started working out again and has lost weight as well as revealed by a former two-weight UFC champion.
Daniel Cormier reveals Khabib Nurmagomedov has lost weight
Former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier has revealed that Khabib Nurmagomedov is back at AKA to train and coach. During one of the recently posted videos on his YouTube channel, Cormier spoke to Islam Makhachev about how the former UFC lightweight champion has lost a lot of weight since the last time they saw each other. He said:
“You know, so all the boys are back at AKA. Khabib is back. And Khabib is looking skinny, bro. Khabib lost some real weight, like since I seen him last time. Khabib looks real skinny. He looked real thin. He’s training hard.”
It’s safe to say that the criticism that was thrown at Khabib Nurmagomedov has motivated him to get back to the gym and stay fit. Moreover, it is being suggested that he has started to train guys again, which will also help him stay in shape.
Previously, the former UFC lightweight champion also shared some pictures of himself training inside the gym. This has gotten a lot of fans excited. But it is yet not sure if Nurmagomedov will return to coaching.
Dana White referenced Nurmagomedov while revealing why Conor McGregor’s next fight isn’t official yet
Fans have been waiting for the return of Conor McGregor for quite some time now. While it was revealed that McGregor will be fighting Michael Chandler upon his return, the bout is yet to be made official. Thus, fans are in doubt.
Speaking about the same, Dana White revealed that it is hard to get guys like Conor McGregor to fight. In the process, the UFC president also referenced Khabib Nurmagomedov and claimed that these fighters have a lot of money, which makes it hard to convince them to return to fighting.
That said, it will be interesting to see if Conor McGregor actually returns to the octagon or not later this year against Michael Chandler. Fans will have to wait for the official announcement of the fight.
Do you guys think McGregor vs. Chandler will happen? What are your thoughts on Cormier’s words?
