The 26-year old midfielder joined West Ham United after 17 years with Arsenal.

The English midfielder has been one of the most injury-prone players for Arsenal. However, he always had immense potential and Arsene Wenger entrusted him with his abilities at all times. But after the managerial change at the club, Jack Wilshere has left the club. And Unai Emery, Arsenal’s new head coach, revealed the real reason behind his departure.

According to Emery, he could not guarantee Jack Wilshere a starting spot in the team due to tactical and technical reasons. He informed Wilshere that his playing time will be significantly reduced, which forced the midfielder to move out of the club.

“It was a tactical, technical decision. The conversation with Wilshere was a very good conversation,” said Emery.

“I explained to him my opinion and how I will want to create the team and not sure [I could] say to him he’s going to play in the XI. Also he explained to me the decision is not easy for him but he wanted to choose the best option for him.

“Every time it was with respect. I know this player is very important for the supporters, he grew up here with Arsenal. But I don’t give for him one post in the starting XI. It’s for that he chose to leave here and I respect this,” the Arsenal head coach further added.

Arsenal have had an eventful transfer window, with the Gunners confirming the signing of five players. Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira have joined the club, while Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere have left Arsenal, to join Villareal and West Ham United respectively.
