Unai Emery on Mourinho

Unai Emery on Mourinho: The rivalry between Unai Emery and Jose Mourinho dates back to their time in Spain in 2010.

Arsenal are currently 4th in the Premier League, as they climbed up the table after their win against Tottenham. The spirits are high in the Arsenal camp as the side came from behind at halftime to beat Pochettino’s side 4-2.

Unai Emery’s men will now make a trip to Old Trafford, where the Spanish manager will renew his rivalry with Jose Mourinho. Manchester United are not in a good run of form at the moment, as the side is winless in their last 3 league games.

The managers clashed during their time in Spain, when Unai Emery was the head coach of Valencia, while Jose Mourinho was the boss at Real Madrid.

As both the sides clash, we take a look at the war of words between both the managers after they clashed in La Liga in 2010.

Unai Emery on Mourinho:

Manchester United will be desperate to return to winning ways when they meet Arsenal later tonight. Arsenal, meanwhile, will aim to extend their unbeaten run across all competitions to 20 games.

However, the history of both the managers will also be significant as they clash for the first time in England.

After Real Madrid’s 1-0 win over Valencia in a La Liga game in 2010, Jose Mourinho famously pulled out a piece of paper in the post-match conference. It was a list of mistakes, which he though the referee made in the game.

Unai Emery was justifiably not happy with Mourinho’s behaviour, stating that Valencia had a reason to make a mistake as they lost, and that Mourinho is a ‘crybaby.’

“We at Valencia have good reason to make a public complaint against all the mistakes that have led to us losing, but we do not,” Emery said.

“The position of Mourinho is that of a cry-baby,” The current Arsenal head coach added.

In the pre-match conference for the game against Arsenal, Mourinho stated that Arsenal don’t have an accumulation of matches as they play in the Europa League, where they could opt to rest their best players. The comment didn’t go down well with the fans of both the clubs.
