The Controller Agents is the class with the most agents tied with Initiators. They are important because they protect sites on defense and delay hits while on attack they set up site hits. This tier list will show you the best controller agents in Valorant.

The Controller class is underappreciated in Valorant. The game requires a lot of tiny micro-adjustments through one way placed by these agents. That is why, these agents are so important in setting up success for their team.

However, some agents are better than others and that applies to Controllers as well. At the end of the day, there is much more to Controller agents than just placing down smokes. Let us take a look at the best ones in the game.

The Best Controller Agents in Valorant: Tier List Post Update 6.11

There are many ways you can play a Controller agent in the game. There are agents like Astra who stand back and look at the battlefield from above while agents like Omen take matters into their own hands and play aggressively. The point is to know which role you fit better in the game.

Controllers are some of the easiest agents to learn because even if you do not learn the fine lines such as line-ups or different set-ups you can always place down your utility to offer some cover for your team. Let us take a look at the best controllers in the game from the S Tier to the C Tier.

(Note: This list reflects the views of the writer and should not be considered the final list)

  • S Tier: Brimstone, Harbor
  • A Tier: Viper
  • B Tier: Astra
  • C Tier: Omen

S Tier Agents

S Tier Agents are the best controllers in the game. They can control areas of the map pretty easily by placing down their utility and their post-plant setups help in securing the rounds for the team. That is why, one should prioritize using these agents in any scenario or learn them if they want to be a controller for their team.

Brimstone

In most cases, Brimstone is the easiest controller to learn in Valorant and he is the most effective. His utility is designed to be effective for the post-plant and it is the most easy to use. In most cases, Brimstone can easily hold down areas and even delay enemies due to his utility on defense.

On attack, he is the most effective in laying down smokes and delaying the spike defuse by using his molly and the Ultimate. He has a high pick rate even in professional matches due to his usability and how players can utilize one-way smokes with him. The Ultimate ability in combination with the Molotov is the ultimate damage dealer. They can not delay site hits but chip off weak enemies.

Most Brimstone players tend to use the Ultimate on Sage Resurrections to ensure that the numbers game does not turn the tide of the battle. Due to how easy he is to play and how much utility he brings to the team, he is considered the best Controller agent in the game. The best team composition to play with him would be to combine him with another Controller, a Duelist, and a Sentinel.

Harbor

Harbor is the latest controller agent in the game and he has quickly become the preferred smokes agent in the meta. Although he is not a traditional smoking agent, that is what makes him so special. His abilities are designed to deny aggressive angles for Operator players and to delay information for defenders.

As far as the defender side is concerned, Harbor players can use the Harbor utility to delay site hits and cause paranoia in the opposite team. Even his ultimate is designed in a way that it stops enemies from pushing on-site and delays site hits. On attack, you can use this ultimate to gain information on enemies and push the stunned players to get kills.

Combined with Viper, Harbor can be deadly in post-plant setups and providing cover for teammates while planting or executing site hits. That is the primary reason why the Harbor-Viper combo is so prevalent in professional play.

A Tier Agents

If you combine the agent here with the ones mentioned in the S Tier, they can make site hits and defense much easier. The A Tier agent here is meant to delay spike defuses. However, this agent here is effective most when one lurks with them. That is why, this agent is better utilized when one uses them for a solo lurking role. The agent we are talking about is Viper.

Viper is one of the best agents in the game even after the nerfs recently for the fuel regeneration affecting her utility. However, she is still usable and can cause more than enough paranoia in the minds of the enemies. Viper is the best agent if you want to play a lurker role.

The Wall can deny information about your position while the Orb is redeployable and can put down cover wherever you want. This combination is lethal if you know how to use this agent properly. That is why, a lot of professional players prefer to play this Controller since they have room to be aggressive with her.

The Snake Bite and the Viper’s Pit are the ultimate combinations. The Viper’s Pit weakens enemies when one steps inside it. Using this Ultimate for the post-plant and delaying the defuse of the spike with the Snake Bites should be the goal of Viper players. These two pieces of utility are inescapable and are surefire ways to secure the rounds.

B Tier Agents

The B Tier Agent here is meant to delay the defuse and help teammates enter onto sites. In addition, they are also meant to slow down enemy pushes, stop them in their tracks, and keep a close eye on flanks. The agent we are referring to is Astra.

Astra

This agent, once upon a time in the game was the best Controller. She had more stars to choose from and could do more for the team. Since then she has fallen off due to the availability of simpler Controllers such as Harbor. However, if a team utilizes her correctly, she can be a lethal agent to use.

The only thing dragging Astra down is the amount of communication you need with your team to play her. The concussing, pulling, and smoking abilities on her require lots of team communication which most of the games lack, even if they are ranked.

That is why, she is viable only in higher stages of the game such as competitive Valorant or Radiant+ games. Make no mistake about it, she is a strong Agent, but she is not used as often due to better options. Plus her Astral Form makes it really difficult to react instinctively when putting down smokes.

The best use of Astra in the current stages of the game is to put down smokes and debuffs and to delay the opponents, no matter attack or defense, as much as possible.

C Tier Agents

There is only one C Tier Controller Agent in Valorant and the reason why he is at the last spot is not because of his abilities. It is because of how people play him. There are plenty of ways one can utilize this agent but he does not fit the passive role of a Controller. The Agent we are talking about is Omen.

Omen

The controller from the dark side has no problems being aggressive and teleporting everywhere to spook his enemies. That is why, he comes in at the last spot because he is more suited to playing an aggressive role rather than hanging back like the other controllers.

His Shrouded Step allows you to get proactive on the attacker side and find unique angles to play from on the Defensive side. That is why, you need to find ways for him to work because his whole kit is based around being an aggressive controller and lurking on both sides to find picks. If you look at his kit, you will find two Teleports, a Nearsight ability, and the smokes.

The smokes are standard for any controller but the Teleport and Paranoia combination can be lethal if used correctly. Plus the Ultimate is the best rotating agent if you are caught in a bad spot. The reason why he comes in last is that there is no post-plant delay with him on the attack.

That is why players need to be more careful when picking Omen because he requires a more aggressive playstyle. Those are all the things you need to know about the Controller agents in Valorant. For more Valorant content like this, click here.
