Barcelona boss Valverde insists board on signing Chelsea star Marcus Alonso

Marcos Alonso has proven his worth as a reliable defender at Chelsea. Now, Barcelona boss pushes for a move for Alonso as the club prepares for European challenge.

According to Don Balon, Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has reportedly urged his club’s board to consider a move for Chelsea starlet Marcos Alonso.

Barcelona is currently on their road to an unbeaten campaign. Since Ernesto Valverde took charge of the club, there is no looking back for the Catalans. They have already wrapped up the Spanish La Liga with two games in hand and are a staggering 15 points ahead of arch-rivals Real Madrid.

But according to transfer rumour specialists Don Balon, Valverde doesn’t want Camp Nou chiefs to rest on their laurels. The Blaugrana boss has been impressed with Alonso’s performances at the Stamford Bridge this season.

It has been reported that Ernesto Valverde has demanded Camp Nou chiefs to up Marcos Alonso.

Alonso, a product of Real Madrid’s youth academy, has become one of Europe’s top left backs. He has been an important figure in Chelsea defence in two year under Antonio Conte at the Stamford Bridge. ‘

The Spaniard played an important role for Chelsea in the Premier League title-winning campaign last season. He impressed Antonio Conte in the 3-4-3 formation.

Chelsea bought Alonso from Fiorentina in a £25million deal on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2016.

According to Don Balon, Valverde has also identified five players, of which Alonso is a part, to bring to Camp Nou.

Alonso is one of the top-scoring defenders in Europe’s top five leagues — and is now proving himself as one of the Premier League’s great goal-scorers from the back. The Spaniard has built upon his superb form from last season, netting seven goals and three assists in all competitions.

Don Balon reports that Valverde is desperate for Camp Nou chiefs to sign a new left-back and Alonso is on his wishlist.

Marcos Alonso will surely be a good fit for Ernesto Valverde’s Barcelona. His marauding runs down the left flank will surely benefit Barcelona in scoring goals. Alonso’s style of football will surely see him fit well in Barcelona’s defense.
