Verstappen issues verdict on public service with Formula E

Max Verstappen was issued a rather surprising two day punishment for his shove on Ocon post the Brazilan GP incident between the duo.

Verstappen was asked to spend two days with the stewards at the Marrakesh E-Prix.

When a two day community service punishment was announced for Max post the shoving incident, a lot of fans felt that Max got out of the situation with a lenient punishment.

And when the type of community service was announced a few days back, fans were further enraged that the punishment wasn’t good enough.

Max though had a very fruitful time with the stewards yesterday, understanding the intricacies of the job and how tough it is for them to make the correct decision during the race.

“It’s interesting to see it from the other side – normally you can’t spend an entire day with the stewards!” Verstappen said.

“Everybody does their own job during a weekend, and it’s good to really see what it takes to make these important decisions – sometimes a decision might not be nice for a certain person but it has to be taken and you have to follow the rules.

“I think it’s good to experience different things in racing rather than just sitting in the car – to be here and do this kind of work has been a constructive thing for me.” he added.

Verstappen was also very impressed with what he saw on the track. Max admitted to watching Formula E on TV and was fascinated to have witnessed it live as well.

“I’ve of course followed Formula E a bit on TV but I’ve never been in the paddock, and I really enjoyed the day,” he said.

“First of all, it was a really exciting race. The championship is clearly growing and there are a lot of manufacturers here, so I think it’s a cool series.” he concluded.
