Vettel feels Raikkonen’s F1 image is a little ‘distorted’

Vettel and Raikkonen have given Ferrari a very good start in their bid to get that elusive constructor’s championship.

The Ferrari duo has performed decently well and have kept Mercedes at bay in the initial part of the season. A large part of it has to do with how Raikkonen has performed this season, matching Vettel move for move.

Vettel feels that while the results haven’t been there for Kimi in the last few seasons, he has driven admirably and that on most Fridays this season, Kimi has maybe been a little better than Vettel.

“I think one thing is always to look at the result and the other is if you look a little bit deeper.

“It’s been incredibly close this year so far. To be honest, most of the Fridays I think he had the upper hand so far.

“Here and there I was struggling to understand the car and feel the car so I think knowing him, knowing his strength, he’s incredibly talented and able to drive around problems.

“If you look at the previous years the image is a bit distorting. It wasn’t as one-sided as you might think if you look at the results.” Vettel said.

Raikkonen has had 3 podium finishes this year and could have had a 100% podium record if not for that pit stop fiasco.

Vettel is pretty happy with the partnership that he shares with Kimi and feels that their relationship could help Ferrari win the constructor’s championship this year.

“We’re a good pair, a good match. There’s no problem at all between us, ever.

“I think that’s a really big bonus for the team and for us to just enjoy our job.” Vettel concluded.
