Vijender Singh sends out a warning to Zulpikar

Professional boxing is as much about the pre-match trash talk as it is about the game. And Asia’s biggest bout has kicked off with some much needed banter between Vijender Singh and Zulpikar, with both boxers trying to unsettle the other before the big day!

Vijender Singh isn’t the one to be fazed by a few words, as he is experienced enough to focus on the task at hand, rather than indulge in unruly banter. But when words are thrown at you, you don’t just let them exist in the universe. You act like a thorough gentleman, and reply back in the best(read meanest) possible way.

Vijender was greeted with a “I’ll knock you out” message during the first public interaction between the two boxers, to which Vijender’s initial response was a chuckle, a chuckle that seemed to signify the hollowness of the statement that was just made.

“He’s just a young kid, a southpaw, that’s all. When he said that he will knock me out, I was laughing. I’ll reply to him in the ring. August 5 isn’t too far off.” Vijender said.

“He’s got 8-0 record, but he hasn’t fought outside China and he hasn’t fought any experienced guys.”

“The one experienced guy he fought it was a draw. We have a gameplan for him,” Vijender added.

Vijender is the current WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight champion while Zulpikar is the WBO Oreintal Super Middleweight champion. Both the titles are on the line, as the winner will walk away with both and the loser will be stripped off his current title.

Vijender is currently training with British trainer Lee Beard in Manchester for his bout against Zulpikar.

“It’s India versus China and we will show China that we are the best,” said Vijender in a bid to get more people to the NCSI dome on 5th August.
