“I have been watching it [Rohit Sharma’s batting] for years now. He’s the best One-day player around and we are so delighted to see him. When he plays like that, everybody is happy to see him strike this so well,” Kohli was quoted as saying during the post-match presentation ceremony.

The words were a huge statement from a batsman who himself is widely regarded as not only today’s but one of the best batsman to have doled out his expertise in the cricketing fraternity. Sharma’s 26th ODI century today saw him become the first Indian to score four centuries in a World Cup, also becoming the first Indian batsman to cross the symbolic milestone of 1,000 runs in 2019.
