Virat Kohli on Adelaide Test win

Virat Kohli on Adelaide Test win: The Indian captain lauded Pujara, Rahane and the Indian bowlers for registering a remarkable win.

India captain Virat Kohli was delighted leading India to their first-ever victory in the first Test of the series in Australia. In which is India’s sixth Test win down under, it has come at a price of nervousness which saw the opposition batsmen showing great resilience.

Speaking during the post-match presentation about the tense moments in the match, Kohli was quoted, “These things happen in Tests, ups and downs through a game. You need to just stay calm. Odds were stacked against them. They fought really well but we executed our plans well and got that last wicket which were intending to get.”

The usually aggressive Kohli admitted to the fact that he felt the heat during the business end of the match. “I wouldn’t say I was cool as ice but you just don’t try to show it. Jasprit was getting worked up in his last over but I just told him to relax,” he said.

India fielded six specialist batsmen and four bowlers in this Test, something which haven’t done in recent matches. Taking 20 wickets with four specialist bowlers sounds easier said than done. Kohli said that he was ‘super proud’ of his bowlers to have put in such a performance.

“Super proud to have four bowlers and take 20 wickets is a great achievement. Something that we haven’t done in the past. Shows us that if the batsmen step up regularly, we will be gunning for a win in every Test match. Collectively we were the better team and deserved to win,” he added.

Before concluding, Kohli also talked about how this Indian team will not be complacent after one win and will go for victory in each and every match of the series.
