Virat Kohli opines on playing against Mohammad Amir ahead of India vs Pakistan World Cup match

Virat Kohli opines on playing against Mohammad Amir ahead of the mega India vs Pakistan World Cup clash on June 16 at Manchester

Team India skipper Virat Kohli opens up on his team playing against Pakistan speedster Mohammad Amir while addressing a Press Conference ahead of the much anticipated India vs Pakistan clash at Manchester tomorrow.

If the Indian Team has to pick just one player that they need to be wary of in tomorrow’s clash, it will perhaps be Mohammad Amir.

The Cricketing fraternity, particularly the Indian Cricket fans can never forget Amir’s scintillating spell of fast-bowling during the final match of the ICC Champions Trophy against India. He picked up the prized wickets of the famous ‘Top 3’ of the Indian batting order, including that of Virat Kohli, as he finished with the figures of 6-2-16-3.

During the Press Conference too, Kohli was asked about the possible duel between the two which fans are likely to witness in tomorrow’s game as well.

What did Virat Kohli comment?

Kohli clearly did not wish to fall for the ‘TRP trap’, as he began his comment addressing the same as he added that he is always willing to respect a good bowler’s skillset.

“I am not going to say anything for different for TRPs or for exciting news. You have to respect every bowler’s strength. I just focus on the white ball or the red ball, regardless of the bowler. You have to respect a good bowler’s skillset. I said this even before the South Africa match about Kagiso Rabada”, said Kohli.

Such are the expectations from the spicy clash between the two, that even the batting legend- Sachin Tendulkar came up with his advice on how Kohli should go about his game while facing Amir.

The 30-year-old also pressed upon the fact that there are other 10 players who will be hitting the ground tomorrow, and all his team players will have to play well against Pakistan.

“It’s not like if he [Amir] takes a wicket or I score runs, the match result is going to be decided. There are going to be 10 other players. All of them have to play well. I don’t think I am in a competition with anyone, that’s all talks from the outside. This kind of competition doesn’t even cross my mind. If you play badly against a bowler, you will get out. It’s that simple for me, commented Kohli. Watch the vide below (starts from 06:28):

The Pakistan pace attack

The pace attack of the Pakistan Team have not performed up to the mark in the recent past. But, they were without the service of the eleventh hour additions in Mohammmad Amir and Wahab Riaz- who have been exceptional in the ongoing World Cup so far.

Amir, in fact is the leading wicket-keeper so far in the World Cup as he has picked up 10 wickets so far in the 3 matches he has played, including his maiden 5-wicket haul in ODI’s against Australia the other day at Taunton.

The pace attack also included the likes of Wahab Riaz, Hasan Ali, and the young left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi, who can turn it around on their day. However, India clearly are the favourites in tomorrow’s match, with a 6-0 record in World Cup matches.
