Virat Kohli picks rival captain as ideal No. 4 batsman for India in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

Virat Kohli picks a rival captain as the ideal No. 4 batsman for India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 prior the Warm-up games in England

The Virat Kohli-led Indian Cricket Team finally landed in UK to participate in the mega ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 on Wednesday. The BCCI, skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and other players from the Indian team marked their arrival by posting their respective pictures in the various social media hand

Brushing off the online fun, the Indian team meant business the very next morning as the players hit the nets and geared themselves up prior to their warm-up match against New Zealand on May 25, 2019.

Post the practice sessions, however, all the 10 teams’ captains gathered for an interaction before the warm-up games commence from May 24, 2019. During the interaction, one of the kids present asked a question to all captains: If you had to pick a player from another team, who would it be?!

All the 10 teams’ captains came out with the one player who they think would perfectly fit into their respective sides. Indian skipper, uttered the name of a rival captain who was present there itself, perhaps in relation to India’s apparent problem regarding one of the key positions in the batting order.

Who did Virat Kohli pick?

Virat Kohli, to the question initially wanted to pick former South African sensation and co-mate from his IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)- AB De Villiers.

But, since he had to pick one from the current players from other teams, he went for the South African skipper, Faf Du Plessis.

Although the reply was in a light-hearted manner, it might as well have been in relation to India’s no.4 woes which have been in debated and discussions for the past one- and- a- half years now. Interestingly, the Proteas skipper Du Plessis also plays at the same no.4 position in the batting order for the South African side.

Here is who the other 9 teams’ captains picked (if they could):

Kane Williamson (New Zealand)- “Maybe a bowler. (Did take a name I am told…) Rashid Khan”

Aaron Finch (Australia)- Kagiso Rabada

Eoin Morgan (England)- “No player. Ricky Ponting on coaching staff.”

Mashrafe Mortaza (Bangladesh)- “That guy… *pointing to Virat Kohli”

Faf Du Plessis (South Africa)- “Rashid Khan or Jasprit Bumrah in bowing, Virat in batting”.

Gulbadin Naib (Afghanistan)- “Depends on the day”.

Jason Holder (West Indies)- “We have a good team. No one!”

Sarfaraz Khan (Pakistan)- “Jos Buttler”

Dimuth Karunaratne (Sri Lanka)- “Ben Stokes”
