Virat Kohli to skip press conference before West Indies tour amid increasing reports of split between him and Rohit Sharma in the Indian team

The reports of alleged rift between team India skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma have been snowballing with each passing day with not an iota of indication to die at all.

Just a day ago there were reports where a Committee of Administrators (CoA) member had allegedly requested a senior member of the Indian Cricket Team to write a message on social media that the team environment is “perfectly fine”.

And now, raising further rift speculations between the two, skipper Virat Kohli has reportedly decided not to hold the customary press conference before leaving for the West Indies series.

Kohli will attend a promotional event on Monday

Kohli reportedly will attend a promotional event on Monday morning before boarding the flight but will not take any questions regarding the West Indies tour. It is worth mentioning that it is a norm for a captain to attend the press conference before the Indian team leaves for a series.

“There will be no pre-departure press conference by the Indian team leaving for the West Indies. There is no window for a press conference ahead of the departure. We tried but it was not possible,” a BCCI source told ANI.

Kohli perhaps, is well-versed with the rift reports between him and Rohit which has snowballed with each passing day ever since the end of India’s campaign in the 2019 World Cup semi-final.

The alleged rumours gathered up pace particularly after reports of Rohit ‘unfollowing’ Anushka Sharma started surfacing on mainstream media and social media platforms.

The Indian team is supposed to leave for the US on Monday, where they will play two T20Is before travelling to the West Indies for the final T20I, three ODIs, and two Test matches. The members of the Test side – barring those who are already in West Indies with India A team – will travel later.
