India took the lead after Cheteshwar Pujara scored a gritting century in the first innings of fourth test. Here is Virat Kohli’s reaction to India’s lead.

India are contesting a test series in England. They lost the first two matches against the hosts before getting right back into the series following a dramatic victory. The fourth test has now gotten underway with day two also over. As far as momentum is concerned, the visitors have it by their side and are in the driving seat.

The men in Blue bowled the opposition out for 246 runs on day one itself of the fourth test in Southampton before narrowly managing to take a lead. It was certainly hard fought as they managed to grab a lead of just 27 runs on a pitch that is likely to favour the bowlers as it starts to wear out.

While most of India’s batsmen failed to live up and put forth their contribution, the man who stood out was Cheteshwar Pujara. The 33 year played an unbeaten inning scoring 132 runs and helping India into a lead of a few runs. It now remains to be seen what the visitors will do in the second innings with England batting at 6/0 at the end of the second day.

However, taking the lead after being nine wickets down was a commendable thing that India’s last men standing achieved and it certainly left a few people smiling in the dressing room. One of them was the captain, Virat Kohli. The 28 year old matched 6,000 test runs and was seen celebrating explicitly as India took the lead with Pujara hitting the runs.

He was initially inside the dressing room with a number of players and staff watching on from the balcony. However, as Pujara took a double between the wickets, Virat Kohli was spotted coming out into the balcony in excitement and applauding the batsmen on the pitch. He also made a sign by holding his hands up which looks difficult to decode.
