Veteran Indian batsman Virender Sehwag has made a huge statement by advocating to drop Dinesh Karthik for KL Rahul in 1st T20I between India and Ireland.

In the recently concluded IPL, Rahul timed the ball perfectly and played drives with breathtaking elegance. He is one of the most talented Indian cricketers. Although he has not been able to cement his place in any of the three formats, he looks very promising. If he can keep himself away from injury, the day is not for when he would be an automatic choice in all the three formats of the game for India.

In the recently concluded IPL Rahul was in sublime touch and ended as one of the highest run scorers. His franchise Kings XI Punjab started on a great note but faded away as the tournament went on.

As it turned out, the team that was once leading the charts could not even qualify for the playoffs. The two players who did the bulk of the scoring for KXIP were Chris Gayle and KL Rahul. Even between the two, KL Rahul was the dominating factor and almost single handedly ensured that the team reached decent totals.

KXIP mentor Virender Sehwag has now advocated including Rahul in the side in place of KKR Captain Dinesh Karthik. While speaking to India TV, Viru said, “India should open with Rohit and Shikhar, KL Rahul should come at No.3 with Virat Kohli at No.4. MS should come after Kohli. Rahul should play in place of Dinesh Karthik as I believe, he can provide depth in batting while playing at No.3”.

Rahul’s amazing run of form has given a headache to the team management. His heroics have been so prolific that there is a sense that the Karnataka lad may be drafted in the playing XI in place of veteran opening batsman Rohit Sharma.
